Tuition at FSM

At FSM the emphasis is on student centred learning, constructive appraisal and the gaining of skills, knowledge and understanding of music and creative musicianship.  Sessions are highly structured and aim to suit the individual learning requirements of the student, through developmental feedback, advice and guidance.  Music education should challenge, fulfil and enrich.

Tuition is based at Foxton, Leicestershire, Monday to Friday 09.00 to 20.00; Saturday 09.00 to 18.00.  Home visits are available. Sessions are between 30, 60 and 90 minutes duration depending on programme and skills level.

Dr Nick Redfern

Nick Redfern is the director of the Foxton School of Music and studied composition, piano and singing at Huddersfield Polytechnic, followed by postgraduate study in composition at King’s College London, The Royal College of Music and Birmingham Conservatoire.  He has worked as an education facilitator with The London Sinfonietta, Opera Factory, English National Opera, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and The London Symphony Orchestra.

He has a broad range of experience in music education and has taught in schools, colleges and universities from levels 1 to 6.

Nick is also active as a researcher and writer.
